Photo in, explanation out. Within a minute.
Point your camera at an exercise. Retrieva reads it, shows you what it saw, and explains it with the reasoning — or works out the whole sheet at once.
From your homework, exam or worksheet to an explanation that sticks — and practice questions that keep coming back until it does.

Point your camera at an exercise. Retrieva reads it, shows you what it saw, and explains it with the reasoning — or works out the whole sheet at once.
You type your own answer first, then see the options. What you got wrong comes back sooner, what already sticks moves back. Your time goes where it’s needed.
Homework, a worksheet or an old exam — point your camera at it. Uploading Word, PowerPoint or PDF works too.
Straight from the app, with your camera. Several pages are fine, and picking a file works too.
Retrieva first shows what it detected on your sheet. If something is wrong, take a new photo.
The whole sheet worked out at once, or per-exercise explanations with the reasoning. Stuck on a step? Keep asking.
From the same sheet it builds practice questions. Wrong ones come back, solid ones move back.
No photo at hand? Type a topic, paste your summary or start from a note. Same questions, same explanations, same review pile.
Three choices set this apart from an ordinary flashcard app. All three are less comfortable than the alternative — and that is precisely the point.
For every question you first type what you think. Once you see the right answer you think "that one, obviously" — but in the exam you have to produce it from memory, and then it turns out not to be there. That is the gap you close here.
Before you see the answer you say how sure you are. Sure and wrong is the dangerous box: not a gap in your knowledge but a misconception, and those questions get priority.
Nothing to plan. Practise whenever it suits you: what hasn’t stuck yet comes first, and what already went well moves back and shows up again later.
Not three separate apps for testing, planning and notes that know nothing about each other.
Every question you answer counts, even if you save nothing. Per subject and per topic you see where you get stuck, and one button gets you a summary, practice questions or flashcards — built on your mistakes.
Your dress rehearsal: the clock runs, no explanations along the way, everything at the end. Type a topic and you quickly have a test — different questions every time.
You get the explanation and have to name the term — much harder than the other way round, and exactly what an exam asks. From your summary, on a topic, or typed yourself.
Put your exam in the calendar and Retrieva proposes study moments in the days before — spread out, weighted towards the exam.
Write in Markdown, with headings and lists. Done? One button turns your note into a set of practice questions or flashcards — about exactly what you wrote down.
Only time you actually let run counts. Per subject and per week you see where the hours went — and whether that matches where you get stuck.
Drop in a photo or PDF of an old exam. Retrieva pulls out the questions and builds a new one on the same material — same level, easier, or one level up.
Worked solutions, exams, flashcards, summaries and notes sit together per subject, newest first. Nothing gets lost in a chat history.
No points, badges or streaks. They work for a fortnight, and then you stop the moment the streak breaks. There is no chat window to ask anything either: you ask about the exercise in front of you. And you mark your own open questions, because you learn more from honestly comparing your answer than from a model that waves everything through.
Every question sits at one of five levels, from bare facts to a reasoned judgement. You see the scale everywhere as five small bars, so you always know how heavy a question is. And your progress shows where you get stuck: on remembering, or on applying.
No features held back behind a more expensive tier. AI usage is included — you don’t have to arrange anything, and no bill arrives afterwards.

Three accounts, each their own work
How it works: pick a plan, create an account, pay with iDEAL or card. The first 7 days are always free; pay right away and your subscription starts only after that.
A licence per pupil and one invoice for the school. For schools we’re happy to make a tailored quote.
All amounts are in euros and include VAT. You pay by iDEAL or card. A monthly subscription renews automatically; you get an email three days before, and you can cancel for free in the app at any time. A yearly subscription is paid in one go and does not renew automatically: you get an email before it ends, and then you decide whether to renew. Every payment comes with an invoice by email.
Anyone who has to know something by a date that’s already fixed — from first year of secondary school to university, and just as much your driving theory, a professional exam or a course alongside your job. You create your own subjects, so the app imposes no curriculum and no age on you.
It can, but that is not what it is built for. You can have the whole sheet worked out at once when you are stuck and the work has to be handed in. Go exercise by exercise and Retrieva explains the steps along with the reasoning, gives the final answer only once the route there is clear, and closes with a check question.
Photos (straight from the app, with your camera), PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx) and text files. Up to six files at once, so several pages of a worksheet are no problem.
No. AI usage is part of your subscription. You create an account and it works. There’s a generous fair-use limit that normal studying never comes near; if you do reach it (more than 120 AI actions in a day), only the AI pauses until the next day. Practising with what you already have keeps working.
No, and we won’t pretend otherwise. That’s why Retrieva first shows you what it read from a photo, and every set of questions lands in a review screen before you practise. Where the model is unsure, it tries to indicate that. Always check important answers against your course material.
A question without an explanation is rejected, even when the model supplies one. An answer you can see but don’t understand teaches you nothing.
A monthly subscription renews automatically, and you can cancel whenever you like: one click in the app, free of charge. You get an email three days before each renewal. After cancelling you keep access until the end of the month you’ve paid for.
A yearly subscription is paid in one go for the whole year; stopping halfway with a refund isn’t possible. It also doesn’t renew automatically, so there’s nothing to cancel. A month, a week and a day before it ends you get an email, and then you decide whether to renew.
As a consumer you also have a 14-day right of withdrawal; see the terms of service.
Before you stop you can export everything: subjects, questions, exams, progress, planner and notes, as Word, PDF, CSV, Markdown, JSON or ICS. If your subscription ends, your data is kept so you can come back. If you don’t use Retrieva for 24 months, we delete your account; you get an email about it a month before. You can always delete it sooner yourself.
You can, with a parent or guardian’s permission — that’s what the privacy law requires. So when you sign up we ask you to confirm that you are 16 or older, or that a parent or guardian gives permission; that parent or guardian is then responsible for it. On the Family plan the parent is the one who pays and manages the accounts.
Your subjects, questions and progress sit in your own walled-off account. We sell nothing on, we show no ads, and we don’t use your material to train models.
To generate questions, the text you enter is sent to the AI model Retrieva works with. The privacy statement sets out exactly which company that is, where it happens and how long each thing is kept.
Yes. Retrieva runs in the browser and adapts to your screen — there’s nothing to install. You use the camera straight away to photograph an exercise or an old paper. Everything lives on the server, so you start on your laptop and carry on during your commute.
Yes. Per pupil, with one invoice for the school. For schools we’re happy to make a tailored quote: email us with the number of pupils and the subjects.
Within a minute you’ll know whether this works for you. And if it doesn’t, it stops on its own.
